5. What happens if my dog leaves a SafeSpot?

a SafeSpot, you can track your dog continuously in real-time on your mobile phone
or through the tracking website. If you need recovery assistance, you can call AKC
CAR at 1-888-DOG-LOC8.
It then sends the pet’s owner a text message (or email, or both if preferred) when
the dog leaves the designated SafeSpot.

dogs in real-time on their mobile phones or through our website at www.SpotLightGPS.com.
6. Do alerts only come via text?

of their dog. You can choose between text or email notifications, or both.
7. Why is Securus working with AKC CAR? How did they join forces?
Securus teamed with the American Kennel Club Companion Animal Recovery (AKC CAR)
team to reduce the startling number of lost dogs by arming owners with advanced
technology and continuous recovery assistance. The functionality of SpotLite 2.0
paired with the assistance of the Recovery Team ensures that dogs remain safely
at home or are quickly returned, should they escape.
Securus offers the only GPS Pet Locator products that offer this around-the-clock
recovery service. Through our partnership, there is always someone there to help
you if your dog is missing.
8. Is AKC CAR affiliated with the American Kennel Club?
It is. AKC CAR is a wholly owned subsidiary of AKC, which was founded in 1884 and
is the largest purebred dog registry in the world.
AKC CAR has been in business since 1995 and has over 4 million pets enrolled in
its database. To date, it has already recovered over 350,000 pets.
In the recovery market there are a few companies that offer 24/7 recovery service
and chipping services, but AKC CAR is the largest nonprofit in the market.

10. How does the Lifetime Enrollment in AKC CAR’s Recovery Service work?
AKC CAR maintains a database of over 4 million pets. Enrolling your dog’s unique
SpotLite 2.0 identification number on the included collar tag in AKC CAR’s Recovery
Service provides another opportunity to identify and bring your pet home. If someone
finds your dog, the hotline on the tag (1-888-DOG-LOC8) gives 24/7 access to an
AKC CAR Recovery Team Spotter who will verify your pet’s identity and location and
immediately contact you and/or your alternate contact(s) to set up a reunion. Enrollment
in this service is for the lifetime of your pet.
11. What happens if someone finds my lost dog?
If your lost dog is found, a person can simply press the SOS button on the locator
and you will instantly receive a text that your dog has been found. As part of the
text, you will receive the location of your dog and you can track your pet online
and/or contact an AKC CAR Spotter to help you find your pet.
12. Do dog owners need this kind of device/service for their dogs?
10 million pets went missing in 2008; only 1.8 million were reunited with their
owners.
4.5 million pets were euthanized before they could be placed back with their owners
or in new homes.
SpotLite 2.0 is the natural next step in providing recovery services for our pets.
Both give you total peace of mind in knowing that your dog is always being monitored,
no matter where you are.
13. What is A-GPS Technology?
A-GPS stands for Assisted Global Positioning System. It enhances the performance
of a basic GPS's location time and accuracy. Compared with regular GPS systems,
A-GPS provides much faster positioning even when GPS signal conditions are weak.
14. How accurate is A-GPS?
A-GPS can locate a moving object within 5 yards when recovering your dog, depending
on the signal strength from satellites and cell towers.
15. Is there a difference between a GPS device and a microchip?
There is. Microchips have to be surgically implanted and rely on radio frequency.
GPS systems work off of global positioning technology. Microchips are a great way
to uniquely identify your dog. If a dog is found, then the vet or shelter can scan
the dog and identify its owners. We recommend that you use both microchipping and
SpotLite 2.0 to protect your pet.
16. Do I have to consult a vet before activating SpotLite 2.0?
No. SpotLite 2.0 simply attaches to your dog’s collar. Follow the quick and easy
steps at www.SpotLightGPS.com.

define up to 10 SafeSpots and have 5 active at any time.
21. Will my dog feel anything when going outside of a SafeSpot?
No. SpotLite 2.0 is completely harmless to your dog. The GPS technology picks up
the signal from the device that your dog has left the SafeSpot and instantly alerts
you via your designated preference. Your dog will not feel or hear a thing.

call center. They can stay on the phone with you to help you locate your dog and
reassure you as you recover your dog.
28. What do I do if my locator is not functioning properly?
We offer a money-back guarantee within 30 days of purchase. Please see our Returns
& Refunds Policy for details. In addition to our 1-year limited warranty, we also
offer an extended warranty that would cover a broken or lost device.
29. How does the SpotLite 2.0 anti-theft feature work?
Unfortunately we understand that there are people that steal dogs. One unique features
is the ability to alert you of the speed your dog is traveling. If you see that
your dog is moving at a speed greater than his or her normal running pace, then
it is likely your dog is traveling in a car or other motorized vehicle. Once alerted,
you can notify authorities of the situation and the dog’s location.
30. If SpotLite 2.0 is in the tracking mode, will I still receive alerts?
No, if you are in the tracking mode you will not receive alerts, as you will be
able to see your pet's location on the map on the tracking dashboard.
