Technology Platform
Securus has developed a technology platform
called "GPSaaS" that enables the company, along with its market
partners, to efficiently deploy market specific GPS solutions to solve
the unique problems in each market. The company's technology consists of
an integrated platform that performs all of the functions necessary to,
in real time, track, know and communicate the status of, and locate any
individual or item on the Securus system.
GPSaaS Hardware Platform:
Securus
can provide specialized GPS units to its customers and partners or
interface with virtually any location-based device if required by the
application. Units can include the following components:
- GPS modules for determining location
- Cellular
modules for determining location when GPS fails (triangulation);
sending outbound messages for communicating locator and asset status and
location, as well as receiving inbound messages to control locator and
set alarms on the locator
- WiFi modules for
determining location when GPS and/or cell modules fail or more precise
locations are needed inside buildings and for sending and receiving
messages
- Power and control circuitry to manage the above modules
- Specialized packaging and external controls designed specifically for each application
GPS Software and Communication Platform:
The
GPSaaS Software Platform is delivered to Securus' customers and
partners in a Web Portal format. Additionally, the software platform
handles all incoming and outgoing messages whether delivered by text
message, email, or voice.
The GPSaaS software platform consists of the following components:
- Portal: This
is a web-based application that is available to both the end user and
to Securus' channel partner(s). The portal is the "command center" that
customers interface with to set up profiles, "alarm" conditions, and to
track individuals or items either on an ongoing basis or when an alarm
condition is met (depending on the application). The portal utilizes
Google Maps to visually provide real time location information.
- Communication Center:
The Communication Center handles all incoming and outgoing messages and
utilizes a rule's based engine to determine what messages to send and
what actions to take. Outbound and inbound messages can take the form of
emails or text messages and can be delivered to, and received from, a
variety of locators including cell phones and computers.
- Portable "Apps": The
software platform also extends to portable locators like smart phones
including the BlackBerry and the iPhone. Users can interface with the
system through multimedia applications designed specifically for these
locators.
- Back-end: In addition to the
"front end" functionality described above, the GPSaaS platform also
contains an entire back office and customer management system that
allows our partners, when appropriate, to run the entire Securus-based
business themselves. This consists of inventory management, order
management, automated billing, customer information management,
diagnostic tools, locator management system, marketing and
reseller/affiliate self serve system, search and recovery support
portal, automated registrations, rescue button and order management,
etc.
The GPSaaS software platform includes all of
the functionality needed for end customers and Securus' partners to
utilize the system based on their specific goals. The system can also be
modified and tailored easily and deployed with the specific
functionality needed in each case.
